Euthanasia
There are different reasons you might make the difficult decision to put down your cat or dog. Whatever the reason, it’s never easy. Our team knows it’s an extremely hard step to take, and we’re here to do everything we can to support you throughout.
What happens during a euthanasia appointment?
Your pet will first be brought into a room, then a sedative will be administered to calm and relax them. When you’re ready, the euthanasia solution will be administered by catheter. The solution will gently stop the animal’s heart. Your pet will feel no pain whatsoever during the procedure. Its last few moments will be peaceful and heartfelt.
Can I stay with my pet during euthanasia?
You are, of course, permitted to stay with your pet during euthanasia. We actually encourage your presence if it is something you’re comfortable with. In your pet’s eyes, you are the most important person in the world, and your presence will have a calming effect. Being there physically is a good way to be present for your faithful company right till the end, so you can say your last goodbye. If you feel at all unable to be in the room during the procedure, we completely understand. We will give you a moment alone with your pet beforehand to say goodbye.
